| aaand here we go again. Does anyone really believe that Warner Bros. will be calling the shots over the comics offices? To me this seems an attempt to prepare tp stave off a possible future Disney hostile takeover, and an excuse to oust Paul Levitz. |

I think a company like Warner Brothers wants to maximize profits as much as possible given the state of the economy and they also see the move by Disney as a challenge.
So yes, it isn't surprising that Warner Brothers would be taking a more direct hand in the running of DC Comics.
And no, it isn't going to be a good thing.
I imagine the Vertigo line will suffer for it, and that is really one of the best things DC has going for it (not so much in terms of revenues because the line as a whole struggles when compared to their major superhero titles --- but it will suffer in terms of projects never getting greenlit or given the axe a lot sooner than they currently are).
It will be interesting to see if they continue to protect their icons or if they allow them to be taken into darker directions and ruin their integrity to some degree. _________________ Bender: Hey chumps. I heard you were on the ass end of an ass-kickin'... |

| Not to mention the fact that comics creators will now be reporting directly to Warner Bros. studio execs, who know next to nothing about comics. If the storylines are watered down in an attempt to appeal to the widest possible audience the way the average movie is, I expect readers to reject the output wholeheartedly. Not thst Marvel may fare much better...Disney is the company which once axed its own comics line due to poor performance. |
